Turn a KakaoTalk Chat into a PDF

Export a chat from KakaoTalk and drop the file on the convokeep app, and you get a neatly dated PDF. All processing finishes in your browser, so the chat never leaves your device.

What you get

A PDF where every message carries a date, time and sender. Before saving, you can search within the chat, choose a date range to include only what you need, black out specific messages (deleting them from the PDF) and rename participants. The free preview covers the first 3 pages (watermarked, no integrity page); saving the full document is paid.

How to export a KakaoTalk chat

KakaoTalk exports a chat as a .txt file. Menu names may differ a little by app version. Find them in the order below for your kind of phone. A very long chat makes a big file, so unless you really need photos, text only is recommended.

  1. iPhone: In the chat room, tap ≡ at the top right, tap the gear (settings) at the bottom, and choose Export chat contents. Select Send text only (or Send all if you need the photos too) and save it to Files.
  2. Android: In the chat room, tap ≡, the gear, Export chat contents, then Send text only, and save it to your phone or Drive.

  1. PC: In a chat room in KakaoTalk for PC, click Export chat contents and save it as a .txt file.
  2. If you saved the file on your phone, move it to your computer. Send it through KakaoTalk's Chat with myself, email (write to yourself), a cloud drive or USB, whichever is easiest. Once you have the .txt file on your computer, load it on the convokeep page.

If you emailed it and the file does not arrive, check your spam folder, and for a large chat try exporting again with text only.

Privacy

Reading the file, building the PDF and calculating hashes all happen in your browser. No chat or attachment is uploaded and there is no account. The site counts visits and exports with cookieless analytics, and those events never contain message text, names or file names. Since nothing was sent anywhere in the first place, nothing is left once you close the tab. Read the full privacy policy.

Keepsake vs Record

Keepsake uses a book-style layout that is pleasant to read and suited to keeping or printing. Record adds page numbers, sender and time, and an integrity page with the SHA-256 of the source file and of the transcript data. You can use it later to show that a file has not changed since it was made. Keepsake suits chats with family or a partner, trips and memorials, the conversations you want to keep for a long time; choose Record when you need to show dates, senders and page numbers (for example, when passing the chat to a lawyer).

A later copy whose SHA-256 hash matches the recorded hash has not changed since that hash was recorded. This does not show that the original chat is authentic or complete. Prepared for submission, with an integrity hash. Not legal advice. Whether it is accepted is decided by the court or agency. Read the disclaimer.

FAQ

Can I use it for free?
The preview is free and shows the first 3 pages with a watermark and no integrity page. Saving the whole chat as a PDF is paid (a one-time purchase), and you can check the result in the preview before paying.
Is my chat uploaded to a server?
No. Reading the file and building the PDF all happen only in the browser you are using. There is no account, and no server that receives your chat.
Can photos go into the PDF?
If you choose text only when exporting, the words, dates and senders are all organized. Photos and videos appear as short labels such as [Photo].
Is the other person notified?
Exporting the chat creates a file on your own phone, so the other person is generally understood not to be notified. This can vary by app version, so check yourself if it matters.
