Organizing KakaoTalk Group Chat Evidence, Handling Many People's Messages
A group chat mixes messages from many people. It helps to organize the parts you need in date order, and to think in advance about how to handle other participants' information.
Not legal advice. This page is general information. Whether a court admits or relies on a chat is for the court; convokeep does not promise admission or any outcome. What is needed differs by case, so check with a lawyer or the Korea Legal Aid Corporation (☎132).
Do I have to export the whole group chat?
One approach is to export the whole thing and keep it as the original, then narrow the PDF you submit or share to the period you need. Which range to submit differs by case, so ask a lawyer or the responsible agency.
What about other participants' names and numbers?
Other people's names, phone numbers and photos are personal information. Check whether any parts need to be covered before you submit or share. In convokeep you can make a PDF with specific messages redacted, and redacted text is handled so that it does not remain in the PDF text either. You must decide for yourself what to cover.
May I pick only the messages I sent?
Collecting only one side's words leaves out context and can cause misunderstanding. It is easier to read if you keep the messages before and after and pick the parts you need by date range. Even so, talk to a lawyer or similar about what range is appropriate.
What if I joined the room later or left partway?
Messages from before you joined may not be in your record. We could not confirm this from an official source, so we do not state it as fact; make a separate note of this point.
How do I see it all at a glance in date order?
Load the exported file into the app and choose a date range, and it is organized into a PDF with dates and times. What a file hash shows is explained in what a hash proves.

Ready to try it?
Drop your exported .txt file on the convokeep app for a free preview. The first 3 pages are free (watermarked, no integrity page); saving the full PDF is a one-time paid feature. No chat or attachment is uploaded: the file is read in your browser. To check later that a file is unchanged, use the hash checker.
