Exporting KakaoTalk Chats on iPhone, Detailed Step-by-Step Guide

This covers only the iPhone steps in detail. If you want all three devices at once, see the combined guide first.

Not legal advice. This page is general information. Whether a court admits or relies on a chat is for the court; convokeep does not promise admission or any outcome. What is needed differs by case, so check with a lawyer or the Korea Legal Aid Corporation (☎132).

In what order do I export on iPhone?

  1. Open the chat room you want to export.
  2. Tap the menu (≡) at the top right and go to Chat content (or a similar name).
  3. Choose Send text messages only. If you only need the words, leaving out photos keeps the file small.
  4. Decide where to save it. Somewhere you can open later on a computer, such as email or the Files app, is convenient.

Menu names may differ by app version. Follow the names you see on your screen.

Where is the file saved?

If you saved to the Files app, the file appears in the location you chose (for example, On My iPhone or iCloud Drive). If you sent it by email, you can find it as an attachment. The file name may include the chat room name, so check before sending it to anyone else.

How do I move it to a computer?

Use whichever is easiest: an email to yourself, a cloud drive, AirDrop (Mac) or a USB cable. After moving it, keep one copy of the original file separately and work from a copy. The reasons are in how to keep the original.

What if the export takes a long time or fails?

A very long chat may take time or stop partway. Try again with Text only and update the app and iOS to the latest versions. If it still does not work, contact the KakaoTalk Customer Center.

Will the other person know?

Exporting creates a file on your own device. We could not confirm from an official source whether the other person is notified, so if it matters, check your app version.

Privacy

Reading the file, building the PDF and calculating hashes all happen in your browser. No chat or attachment is uploaded and there is no account. See the privacy policy and the disclaimer.

Ready to try it?

Drop your exported .txt file on the convokeep app for a free preview. The first 3 pages are free (watermarked, no integrity page); saving the full PDF is a one-time paid feature. No chat or attachment is uploaded: the file is read in your browser. To check later that a file is unchanged, use the hash checker.
